Carpet beetles often get mistaken for bed bugs, but the two are very different. Carpet beetles feed on pollen and nectar and easily get carried into your home by food, furniture, or flowers. Carpet beetles have the ability to fly, so once in your home, it is easy for them to travel to different sections of your home.

The larvae of carpet beetles are often what causes the most damage in a home. Their larvae choose to eat materials such as pet hair, feathers, leather, natural bristles, silk, or wool in dark areas. This can ultimately end up damaging your carpet, clothes, or furniture.
